MELISSA B. BURKE attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA on a soccer scholarship. She Graduated Cum Laude in May 2003 (BA), receiving all-conference honors on a Nationally ranked Division II Soccer team with three appearances in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
Melissa went on to Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI where she was a member of the school's Alternate Dispute Resolution Team and was their number 1 ranked negotiator. Some of her other activities included being a Cooley Ambassador, a member of the school's championship flag football team and the VP of the Sports Law Society.
Melissa graduated Cum Laude from Cooley in September of 2007 and in February 2008, she passed the New York State Bar. She was also recently inducted to the 2008 Frontier High School Athletic Wall of Fame.
Prior to joining KSLN, she interned at the City of Lansing Attorney's Office under Brigham Smith, Esq.
Melissa practices in the area of self insured and insurance defense litigation; including labor law and workers' compensation matters. She is a member of The American Bar Association, The Womens' Bar Association of Western New York, The Erie County Bar Association and The New York State Bar Association.
She is a dedicated fantasy football team owner! As an all around sports fan, she spends her free time playing soccer, running and coaching local youth soccer leagues.
She and her husband Shawn live in Cheektowaga. When they're not out and about, Melissa loves to spend time baking and eating her Grandma's Italian cooking!
