Michael L. Stonberg graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Economics with honors in 1985. In 1988, he obtained his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law with honors. He began his legal career at a prominent litigation firm in Miami, Florida in 1988. In 1990, Mr. Stonberg relocated to New York City with his wife to join the law office of Herzfeld & Rubin where he practiced primarily in the defense of Labor Law and product liability claims. From there, he became the partner in charge of the general liability practice of the New York City office of Lustig & Brown, LLP. He continued to focus on the defense of personal injury and property damage claims, including Labor Law, premises liability and construction defect. Mr. Stonberg is currently the resident partner in our New York City office.
Mr. Stonberg recently published the article, Partial Contractual Indemnification Revisited: Brooks v. Judlau Contracting, which was featured in the January 8th edition of the New York Law Journal. He has authored other articles on the Labor Law and insurance coverage, including Beyond North Star: Insuring the Risks and Pre-Indemnification Revived for The Journal of Defense Association of New York in January of 1994 and the winter of 1996, respectively.
Mr. Stonberg is licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Florida. While not working, Mr. Stonberg enjoys relaxing with his wife and daughters, playing golf, and rooting for the Florida Gators.
