PATRICK S. KENNEY is a 1982 graduate of the South Texas College of Law. He concentrates his practice in the litigation and defense of complex civil cases. He has, for more than twenty years, defended individuals and corporations in all phases of catastrophic tractor trailer and motor vehicle litigation, construction accident litigation, product liability matters, arson and fraud matters, as well as insurance defense and self-insured defense litigation.
Pat has significant trial experience and has successfully defended numerous matters before the New York State Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court, Western District of New York. Pat developed experience as a trial lawyer while serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Houston, Texas, and Buffalo, New York.
His experience as a former prosecutor enables him to work closely with law enforcement, investigators and expert witnesses often necessary in the defense of complex matters. In the past, Pat has defended product liability actions on behalf of General Motors, Fountain Power Boats, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation, BMW, Murray, Inc., Amsted Industries and Sears.
In addition to product liability matters, Pat has been successful in defending Benderson Development Company, the County of Chautauqua, Holmes & Murphy, Inc., and other local contractors in numerous labor law and construction accident cases.
Pat is also experienced in complex accident reconstruction and has coordinated accident reconstruction, bio-mechanical analysis and damages experts. He has defended numerous catastrophic tractor trailer accidents on behalf of Howards Express, Magic Transport, Ryder and the Allied Automotive Group.
Mr. Kenney is one of the most active defense trial attorneys in the Buffalo area. Pat is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and NAPSLO. Mr. Kenney is a Director and Legal Counsel for the Insurance Club of Buffalo and is also an active member of the New York Insurance Association where he serves on the education and membership committees. He is also a member of the Sports Lawyers Association. Pat is a former member of the Buffalo General Foundation and Leadership Buffalo.
He is the co-author with Judith Treger Shelton of the article Examination Under Oath: Waging the War Against Insurance Fraud, For the Defense. In addition, he is the co-author of the article Accident Reconstruction, Biomechanical Analysis and the Seatbelt Defense, Practicing Law Institute. He has lectured extensively on accident investigation and risk management.
Pat and his wife Katie have two boys who are extremely active in travel hockey. You can generally find the Kenney family in a hockey rink anywhere in the Northeast during hockey season. When not at the rink, the Kenneys enjoy relaxing at home with their two Labrador retrievers.
