Tom has litigated numerous matters involving automobile; premises and construction liability; professional malpractice claims for physicians, lawyers, dentists, veterinarians, architects, engineers, and pharmacists; complex products liability and "mass tort" actions; lead paint, toxic tort, "sick building" syndrome claims; and recreational/leisure liability cases for the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, various national and regional amateur sports leagues and organizations, amusement parks, bowling alleys, roller and ice rinks, and ski areas.

In addition, Tom has extensive experience litigating the issues unique to actions involving New York Labor Law, work place injuries, and occupational hazard cases, having handled hundreds of such matters for the Firm's many carrier and self-insured clients.

Tom has written and lectured extensively on a host of litigation and law firm management topics for such groups as the American Bar Association; The Defense Research Institute and New York State Bar Association. He was honored to have been selected Program Chair for the NYSBA Annual Meeting of the Committee on Law Practice Management. He is past Chair of the New York State Bar Association's Law Practice Management Committee, and current Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association's Law Office Economics and Management Committee. He was Chair of the Erie County Bar Association's Law Office Management Committee from 1999-2003, and is a past member of the New York State Judicial Candidate Screening Committee. He is a member of the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials, the International Amusement and Leisure Defense Association, and the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).

He is active in the Western New York community, having served as Director of the Arthritis Foundation of Western New York and, for many years, as a member of the board of Directors of the Buffalo Ski Club, LLC. He was honored last year to have been elected President of the Board of Buffalo Ski Club, a private ski area twenty minutes south of the city, which will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2007, making it the oldest and one of the largest (600+ member families) private ski areas in North America.

Tom and his wife are the parents of two always-on-the-go teenagers. Living in the Buffalo area has made it easy for the family to be active in Winter sports. Tom's children are avid ski racers, and Tom is a regular race official for the New York State Ski Racing Association. Tom is proud of the fact that in 2003, he achieved Certified Level I status as an alpine ski instructor with the Professional Ski Instructors of America, and in January, 2006 he became a Certified Level I telemark ski instructor. He is not as proud of the fact that, despite extensive course and practice time, he has only a "fair-to-middling" golf game.
